Overview

context-mod-devvit is a free, open-source moderation tool for Reddit subreddits, distributed under the MIT License. It is built on Reddit’s Developer Platform (Devvit) and installed by subreddit moderators to assist with community moderation.

By installing or using this app you agree to these Terms, Reddit’s User Agreement, Reddit’s Developer Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the project’s LICENSE and NOTICES.

License

This software is licensed under the MIT License (see LICENSE in the project repository). You may use, copy, modify, distribute, and contribute to it freely under those terms.

This project incorporates third-party material — see NOTICES.md for the BSD-3-Clause Devvit template attribution and FoxxMD’s MIT-licensed context-mod project on which this port is based.

Acceptable use

You may install and use this app to moderate subreddits where you have moderator permissions. You may not use the app to:

• Violate Reddit’s Content Policy, Moderator Code of Conduct, User Agreement, or other Reddit Terms
• Harass, target, or surveil specific users
• Bypass any Reddit safety mechanism (user blocks, account bans, etc.)
• Promote illegal activities or content
• Collect data on Reddit users for commercial or training purposes
• Reverse engineer, abuse, or attempt to compromise the app’s security
• Use the app for any purpose prohibited by applicable law

Moderators are solely responsible for the rule configurations they author and the moderation actions those rules trigger.

Disclaimer of warranty

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. THE APP MAY FAIL TO DETECT VIOLATING CONTENT, MAY OCCASIONALLY ACT ON NON-VIOLATING CONTENT, OR MAY MISFIRE DUE TO PLATFORM ISSUES, NETWORK ERRORS, OR CONFIG ERRORS. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Limitation of liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE APP OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE APP, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY MODERATION DECISIONS THE APP MAKES OR FAILS TO MAKE.

No Reddit affiliation

This app is built on Reddit’s Developer Platform but is not an official Reddit product. The author is not employed by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Reddit Inc. References to Reddit trademarks (REDDIT, SNOO, etc.) are nominative use only, per Reddit’s Brand Guidelines and Trademark Use Policy.

Modifications to the service

The author may release updates to the app, change features, or discontinue the project at any time without notice. Moderators are responsible for evaluating updates before they roll out to their installation (Reddit’s Developer Platform delivers app updates through its standard update path).

Changes to these terms

If these Terms materially change, the updated version will be published at the same URL and the “Last updated” date above will be incremented. Continued installation of the app constitutes acceptance.
